In the quiet, wooded landscape of Wiggins Road near Green Pond, South Carolina, a grim discovery was made on May 17, 2017. The body of 19-year-old Prince Treshawn Alvante Polite of Johns Island was found by a logging company employee, bringing a tragic end to the young man's life. An investigation determined that Polite had died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Colleton County Coroner, Richard Harvey, stated that the body had not been at the location for a long period before being found.
Two days prior, on Mother's Day, Polite was last seen leaving his Johns Island home with two friends. He had plans to meet his best friend in Beaufort, a meeting he would never make. When he failed to arrive and didn't return his mother's calls, which was uncharacteristic for him, his family grew concerned. The investigation into his death was handed over to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Crime scene investigators processed both the location where his body was discovered and another area about 150 yards away, believing both to be connected to his death. It was also believed that Polite had been killed at a different location and his body was brought to Wiggins Road.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the case grew cold, and as of early 2019, no arrests had been made. Prince's mother, Priscilla Myers, has been a vocal advocate for justice for her son, expressing her frustration with the lack of progress in the investigation. She revealed that one of the friends Polite was last seen with refused to cooperate with the family, deleted his social media, disconnected his phone, and moved to Atlanta shortly after the incident. According to Myers, another young man from the Ritter area was also in the car but had not been brought in for questioning by authorities. The family's pursuit of answers continues in the hopes of one day finding justice for Prince Polite.
