Ashanti Carmon, a 27-year-old Black transgender woman from Alexandria, Virginia, was tragically killed on March 30, 2019, in Fairmount Heights, Maryland. Around 6:23 a.m., police responded to multiple reports of gunfire near the intersection of Aspen and Jost Streets. Upon arrival, they discovered Ashanti Carmon, who had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. The case was subsequently handed over to the Prince George's County Police Department for further investigation.
