Ortagease Easterling, a 17-year-old from Sumter, South Carolina, tragically passed away on May 26, 2017, following an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred on May 24, 2017, when Sumter Police responded to a shots fired call at an apartment building on Miller Road. Upon arrival, they found Easterling with a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later.
