Senior Deputy Derek Fish, a 28-year-old officer with the Richland County Sheriff's Department in Columbia, South Carolina, tragically died by suicide on July 28, 2017. According to reports, Fish used his service weapon to take his own life while on duty. He was found in his patrol car behind the Region 3 headquarters after finishing his shift.
