Byron Samuel Wright, aged 38, was found dead on August 11, 2017, in Marion, South Carolina. His body was discovered under a carport on West Marion Road. The Marion County Coroner, Jerry Richardson, confirmed that Wright had been shot to death, and his death was ruled a homicide. The investigation into his death was led by the Marion County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
