In the quiet community of Georgetown, South Carolina, the life of 19-year-old Asharr Kysean Cox was tragically cut short on January 21, 2018. A Black/African American male, Cox was at Oatland Park when a dispute escalated into violence, resulting in his fatal shooting.
The initial moments after the shooting were filled with urgency as Cox was privately transported to Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Recognizing the severity of his injuries, medical personnel arranged for his transfer to Grand Strand Regional Hospital in Myrtle Beach. Despite the efforts of the medical teams, Asharr Kysean Cox succumbed to his injuries early the following day.
The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office launched an immediate and thorough investigation into the homicide. Their efforts led them to identify a suspect who had fled the state.
