In the quiet community of Georgetown, South Carolina, the life of William Keith Knight II, a 43-year-old man, was tragically cut short on the night of Saturday, February 2, 2019. Knight, born on October 14, 1975, was a familiar face in Georgetown, where he was educated and had been a long-standing member of the Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church community.
His sudden and violent death sent ripples of shock and grief through the community.
The events leading to Knight's death unfolded around midnight on Gapway Road, east of Andrews. It was there that he was fatally shot. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene of the violent incident and immediately launched an investigation into the homicide. The investigation quickly led to the identification of two individuals connected to the crime.
Within a short period, authorities made two arrests in connection with the murder of William Knight. Stacy Walter Howard, 44 years old at the time, was taken into custody and faced a series of grave charges, including murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Also arrested was 37-year-old Shannon Lane Bone, who resided at the same address as Howard. Bone was charged with accessory after the fact of felony murder. Both suspects were subsequently detained at the Georgetown County Detention Center as the legal process against them began. The community was left to mourn the loss of one of its own while grappling with the violence that had shattered their sense of peace.
