In the early evening of March 7, 2023, tragedy struck in Georgetown, South Carolina, when 17-year-old Jaydyn Lamont Woodward was fatally shot. A junior in high school, Jaydyn was known by his loved ones as a 'gentle giant' and a 'fun-loving young man with such a huge heart.' The incident occurred in a driveway just before 7:15 p.m., and despite being rushed to the hospital, Jaydyn succumbed to his injuries.
The Georgetown Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting,
which led to the arrests of three individuals on March 17, 2023. The suspects were identified as 18-year-old Jacob Tobias Bryant, his 20-year-old brother John Allen Bryant Jr., and a 16-year-old whose name was not publicly released due to their age. All three were charged with murder in connection with Jaydyn's death.
Following their arrests, Jacob and John Bryant Jr. were taken to the Georgetown County Detention Center to await a bond hearing. The juvenile suspect was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
