In the early morning hours of August 9, 2025, a fatal shooting occurred at a nightclub in Georgetown County, South Carolina. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident which took place at a club located on Fuzzy Drive in the Oatland community. Inside the club, deputies found a chaotic scene and a young man who had been shot.
The victim was later identified by the coroner as 22-year-old Ricky Dixon of Georgetown.
An autopsy was scheduled at the Medical University of South Carolina to confirm the cause and manner of his death. As investigators began to piece together the events of that night, they started interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence from the scene. The community was left in shock by the violent death of the young man.
In the days following the shooting, the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office identified a person of interest in the case. They publicly asked for assistance in locating 19-year-old Savion Grimmage. Shortly after, Grimmage was taken into custody by deputies. He was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the death of Ricky Dixon. Following his arrest, Grimmage was held at the Georgetown County Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
