In the winter of 2020, the life of Herman Eleton McCray Jr., a 27-year-old man from Georgetown, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. On the evening of February 5th, McCray was fatally shot on North Merriman Road in Georgetown, a violent end to a life that had been marked by creativity and ambition. Known for his vibrant personality, McCray was an entrepreneur who had established his own clothing line, 'Junya Brand,' and was the CEO of Junya World Entertainment.
In the music world, he was known as 'The Human Autotune and Captain Planet,' performing in various venues and participating in radio speaking engagements.
The Georgetown Police Department, in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service and the State Law Enforcement Division, launched a massive manhunt for those responsible for McCray's death. The investigation led them to two suspects: Javon Jacob Hair and Dyshan Malik William Frasier. The two men were eventually located and apprehended, and at the time of their arrest, they were found to be in possession of narcotics and firearms.
Following their capture, both Hair and Frasier were charged with murder and armed robbery in connection with the fatal shooting of Herman McCray Jr. They were subsequently brought back to Georgetown to face legal proceedings. The community was deeply affected by the loss of a young man who had shown such promise and was a beloved figure to his family and friends.
