In the early hours of January 31, 2018, the life of 27-year-old Malcolm Cruz Jones was cut short in a fatal shooting at a residence on Blackville Road in Gaston, South Carolina. The male victim was discovered with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 1 a.m. The Lexington County Sheriff's Department began an investigation, quickly determining that the shooting was not a random act of violence.
