In the late hours of a Friday in Gaston, South Carolina, a long-running dispute over a small amount of money tragically escalated, ending the life of 28-year-old Barry Joe Chavis Jr. On March 27, 2020, Chavis, a male certified small engine mechanic with a passion for dirt bikes and four-wheelers, was confronted in the front yard of his home on Fish Hatchery Road. What began as an argument soon erupted into a hail of gunfire, leaving Chavis fatally wounded.
