In a quiet home on Overbrook Street in Anderson, South Carolina, a grim discovery was made on May 6, 2018, that brought a violent end to the lives of a mother and daughter. Theresa Lucille Wright, a 50-year-old female, and her 79-year-old mother, Judith Hilley Calvert, were found deceased in their shared residence. The initial shock of their deaths quickly turned to a horrifying revelation as the details of their demise came to light.
A concerned niece, unable to reach her aunt and
grandmother by phone, decided to go to their home. Finding the house unlocked, she entered and was met with a brutal scene. In one of the bedrooms, she found both women, victims of a violent struggle. Theresa was on the floor, while her mother was in a nightgown in the same room. It was immediately apparent that their deaths were not from natural causes, prompting a call to 911 and the beginning of a homicide investigation.
The Anderson County Coroner's investigation would later reveal the horrific extent of the violence inflicted upon the two women. They had been beaten, stabbed, strangled, and each had been shot in the head. The time of their deaths was estimated to be late in the evening of May 5th or in the early morning hours of May 6th. Suspicion soon fell upon a member of their own family. Bradley Aldrich, Theresa's 29-year-old son and Judith's grandson, who lived with the two women, was identified as the primary suspect. In a tragic turn of events, Aldrich was already in custody at the Anderson County Jail on an unrelated attempted murder charge at the time his mother and grandmother's bodies were discovered. He had been arrested for allegedly shooting a man on Woodmont Circle. In August 2018, while still incarcerated, Bradley Aldrich was formally charged with the murders of his mother, Theresa Lucille Wright, and his grandmother, Judith Calvert, adding a sorrowful and disturbing chapter to the family's history.
