In the autumn of 2015, the life of a vibrant and beloved teenager, Amanda Daniele Foster, was tragically cut short in Anderson, South Carolina. A 17-year-old White female, Amanda was a junior at Pendleton High School with dreams of pursuing a career in nursing. She was known for her happy and outgoing personality, always wearing a smile. For two years, she had been living with her foster parents on Dalrymple Road.
An avid hunter, Amanda often spent her time after school enjoying the outdoors.
On the evening of October 15, 2015, Amanda and her foster father went deer hunting on their family's property. Dressed in full camouflage, she was doing what she loved. In a devastating turn of events, Amanda was struck by a single bullet from her foster father's high-powered rifle. The shot entered her back and exited through her chest. She was rushed to AnMed Health Medical Center, but succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Office initially responded to the incident, but the investigation was subsequently handed over to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources as it was determined to be a hunting accident. The coroner's report confirmed that Amanda was shot once, and the circumstances pointed to an accidental discharge. The investigation concluded that there was no foul play involved in the tragic event. As a result, no arrests were made, and no charges were filed in connection with Amanda's death. The community mourned the loss of the young woman, with her friends and teachers at Pendleton High School remembering her fondly.
