In the summer of 2019, the life of 32-year-old Vernell Bolden of Ridgeland, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. On the afternoon of Sunday, July 28th, Bolden was shot in the vicinity of Orange Grove Road in Jasper County. He was rushed to Coastal Carolina Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The investigation into his death moved swiftly, and within days, a suspect was in custody.
On the following Friday, the Jasper County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 25-year-old Ra'Sheed Dominique Fields. He was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with the shooting death of Bolden.
Vernell, who was born on September 5, 1986, was remembered by his family and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Center in Ridgeland, following a visitation the evening prior at the Allen Funeral Home Complex.
