In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Columbia, South Carolina, tragedy struck, leaving a family heartbroken and a community searching for answers. On August 15, 2019, Brantley Sutton, a 55-year-old man, was found shot on Beaumont Street, in an area near E.B. Sessions Park. The Columbia Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 11:30 p.m. and discovered Sutton at the scene.
