On the evening of February 17, 2018, tragedy struck a residence on Benedict Street in Columbia, South Carolina, involving Cisco Vandelly Knightner Jr., a 17-year-old Black male. The teenager was gathered with friends in what began as a leisurely night of playing video games on a PlayStation 4. What was intended to be a social gathering took a violent turn shortly after midnight when a disagreement erupted among the group.
