In the late hours of a December night in Beaufort, South Carolina, the life of 17-year-old Dimitri Weaver was tragically cut short. On Thursday, December 12, 2019, just before midnight, police responded to the vicinity of Battery Creek Road and Mossy Oaks Road. There, they discovered the male teenager on the side of the road with a gunshot wound to his midsection.
Emergency services transported Weaver, a resident of Port Royal, to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. At the time of his death, Weaver was a student enrolled in the Beaufort County School District's Adult Education program.
The Beaufort Police Department launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. In the immediate aftermath and in the weeks that followed, law enforcement officials reported that the investigation was active. However, no arrests were made in connection with the homicide. As of late December 2019, the case remained unsolved, and authorities had not publicly identified any suspects. The death of Dimitri Weaver marked the 14th homicide in Beaufort County for that year.
