On a tragic evening in Belton, South Carolina, the life of an unborn baby boy, Shawn Alex James Lowery, was cut short before it even truly began. On February 13, 2020, his mother, 21-year-old Sabrina Louise Lowery, who was 37 weeks pregnant, was fatally shot in her home on Byron Circle. Another man, 33-year-old Tamell Nash, was also found shot to death at the scene.
Deputies from the Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a shooting at approximately 9:20 p.m.
and discovered the horrific scene. Sabrina Lowery, suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach, was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite the desperate efforts of medical personnel, both she and her unborn son, Shawn, died during emergency surgery. The authorities later confirmed that Nash did not reside at the home where the shooting occurred. All three deaths were quickly ruled as homicides, launching a comprehensive investigation into the brutal act of violence that had shattered a family and a community.
The investigation into the triple homicide eventually led to the identification and arrest of several individuals. Ronnie Albert Dion Gaddis and Russell Demetrius Leshon Calhoun were named as the primary suspects in the case. They faced a litany of charges, including murder, child death in the uterus during the commission of a violent crime, two counts of attempted armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
In a later development, it was reported that Russell Calhoun had died during an altercation with police in Illinois. Ronnie Gaddis was apprehended and was subsequently denied bond for his alleged role in the killings. Additionally, a third individual, Marquis L. Bailey, was arrested and charged with two counts of accessory before the fact in connection with the tragic events that unfolded that February night.
