In the late evening of May 1, 2020, Jesse White, a 60-year-old male, was killed in a violent altercation at an apartment complex on Reddin Road in North Charleston, South Carolina. The North Charleston Police Department responded to reports of a possible shooting at approximately 10 p.m. and discovered a chaotic scene with multiple victims.
White was found at the scene having sustained both gunshot wounds and sharp force injuries.
A second victim, 34-year-old Jamaal Cordrey, was also found deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation into the double homicide quickly led police to a suspect.
Jamal Hassan Doctor, a 38-year-old man from the nearby city of Goose Creek, was arrested in connection with the killings. Doctor was charged with two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Doctor was also injured during the incident and received medical treatment at a local hospital before being transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
