In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in North Charleston, South Carolina, tragedy struck, leaving a family and community in mourning. On December 18, 2024, police were called to a residence on South Allen Drive around 11:00 p.m. following reports of an unconscious man. Upon their arrival, they discovered 34-year-old Ridonte Labrandon Calvary, who had sustained a gunshot wound. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office would later confirm that the cause of death was the fatal gunshot wound.
Known affectionately as “D. Head” or “Head-O” to his friends and “Donte” to his family, Ridonte was a lifelong resident of the Charleston area. He was born on September 7, 1990, and received his education within the Charleston County School District. He is survived by his parents, Bernadette Carter and Curtis Calvary, as well as his children, Ridonte Calvary Jr. and Leslie Harper. His sudden and violent death has left his loved ones heartbroken.
In the wake of the shooting, the North Charleston Police Department launched an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ridonte Calvary's death. However, authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects in the case, and no arrests have been made. The community has been urged to come forward with any information that might aid investigators in bringing those responsible to justice. Funeral services were held for Ridonte at the end of December, allowing friends and family to gather and remember a life cut tragically short.
