In the late hours of a November evening in North Charleston, South Carolina, a series of events unfolded that would end in the tragic death of 61-year-old Herman Reed Jr. On November 29, 2022, shortly after 11 p.m., the North Charleston Police Department received calls about a person potentially breaking into cars in the vicinity of Atkins Street. The situation took a grave turn when officers arrived at the scene to find Mr. Reed suffering from a gunshot wound.
