In the quiet community of Saint Helena Island, South Carolina, the life of Lawrence Burgess, a 43-year-old male, was abruptly ended. On the evening of June 10, 2020, just before 10 p.m., the sound of gunfire shattered the peace on Reunion Road. When officers from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office arrived at a home, they discovered Burgess in the yard, unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds.
