On a Tuesday evening in the late summer of 2022, the community of Saint Helena Island, South Carolina, was unsettled by an act of violence that claimed the life of 38-year-old Anthwon Washington. The evening of September 13th was disrupted around 8:45 p.m. when the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a distressing call reporting a person had been shot. Deputies were dispatched to the area of Ginseng Lane and Seaside Road, where they discovered the grim scene.
