In the early morning hours of June 12, 2020, the life of 36-year-old Amanda Marie Stovall, a White / Caucasian female from Williamston, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. Deputies responding to a report of a shooting on Joe Black Road discovered Stovall in a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into her death quickly revealed a story of domestic violence that had escalated to a fatal conclusion. Authorities determined that Stovall had been shot by Autumn Faith Hicks, who was 39 at the time, in the parking lot of a Waffle House on Assembly Drive in Piedmont. The shooting was the result of a domestic altercation between the two women.
Following the shooting, a man named Ronald James Baker, then 38, drove both Stovall and Hicks back to their shared residence on Joe Black Road. It was there that Baker later informed a neighbor about what had transpired. The neighbor urged him to contact the authorities, which he eventually did, leading to the discovery of Stovall's body.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Office arrested both Hicks and Baker in connection with the crime. Autumn Faith Hicks was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Ronald James Baker faced charges of disorderly conduct and accessory after the fact to a felony for his role in the events following the shooting. Both were taken into custody and held at the Anderson County Detention Center.
