In the early morning hours of November 5, 2020, the life of 29-year-old Desmond Lamar 'Dezz' Parks was tragically cut short in Greenville, South Carolina. He was a father of four, with two daughters, Jakatelyn and Telaya Parks, and two sons, Nijaylen and Cassidy Parks. Remembered by his mother as a hardworking and wonderful dad, his sudden death left a void in the lives of his family, including his parents, siblings, and paternal grandmother.
The events that led to Desmond's death
unfolded on Old Easley Bridge Road. He was driving with a passenger when his ex-girlfriend, Jasmine Robinson, began following him. In an act of violence, Robinson allegedly fired at Parks' vehicle, striking him at least once. The passenger in the car with Parks managed to escape unharmed. Neighbors in the vicinity reported hearing terrifying screams around the time of the incident, which occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m.
Following the shooting, Jasmine Robinson turned herself in to authorities. The Greenville County Sheriff's Office charged her with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. During a bond hearing, which was attended by at least 20 of Desmond's grieving family members, Robinson was denied bond due to the severity of the charges against her.
