In the early morning hours of November 28, 2020, the life of 30-year-old Craig Youmans Jr. was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire outside the 7th Lounge nightclub in Aiken, South Carolina. The incident, which unfolded around 12:47 a.m., left one dead and more than a dozen others wounded in its wake.
Authorities responding to reports of shots fired in the nightclub's parking lot discovered a chaotic scene with multiple victims.
Youmans, a resident of North Augusta, was pronounced dead at the scene from at least one gunshot wound. Witnesses reported seeing at least three individuals fleeing the area in a light-colored Chevy Tahoe after shots were fired from both a rifle and a handgun into the crowd that had gathered outside the club.
The investigation into the mass shooting led to several arrests in the following weeks and months. On December 17, 2020, investigators charged 25-year-old Dustin Robert Williamson with murder, ten counts of attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Subsequently, four other individuals were implicated in what authorities described as a planned and conspired attack. Those charged included Emmanuel Lewis Oneal, 33, who faced charges of murder, attempted murder, weapon possession, and criminal conspiracy. Tykendran Je Rhon Creech, 23, was charged with accessory to a felony and criminal conspiracy. Monishia Teria Courtney, 27, and Lasonya Teresa Howard, 36, were both charged with murder and criminal conspiracy.
Law enforcement officials identified Williamson and Oneal as the alleged gunmen in the incident. The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. While arrests have been made, a clear motive for the deadly shooting has not been publicly released. Authorities also indicated a possible connection between the nightclub shooting and another fatal shooting that occurred at an apartment complex the following day.
