On a late Monday evening in Columbia, South Carolina, tragedy struck at the Madison Station Apartments. It was shortly before 11 p.m. on May 10, 2021, when gunfire shattered the night, claiming the lives of two teenage boys. One of the victims was 17-year-old Reginald Nixon Jr., a male resident of Columbia.
Emergency services were dispatched to the apartment complex located on Ulmer Road. Upon arrival, they discovered a chaotic and heartbreaking scene.
Reginald had been struck by the gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another teenager, 15-year-old Desmond Williams, was also critically injured in the shooting. He was rushed to a local hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries. The Richland County Coroner's Office later confirmed that both deaths were the result of the shooting and ruled them as homicides.
In the days that followed, the Columbia Police Department launched an investigation into the double homicide. Funeral services for Reginald were held on Friday, May 14, 2021, at the JP Holley Garners Ferry SE Chapel, followed by interment at the Miracle Faith Christian Center.
