In the summer of 2021, a gathering at a Greenville, South Carolina park turned into a scene of violence, leaving a young man dead and several others wounded. On the evening of Friday, July 16, 2021, shots rang out at Conestee Park, a place typically filled with the sounds of recreation and community. When the chaos subsided, 24-year-old Devante Markis Jennings of Ridgeway, South Carolina, lay dead, having been shot.
