In the early evening of a Sunday in Greenville, South Carolina, a sense of community was shattered by a tragic event in the parking lot of Haywood Mall. On August 3, 2025, 18-year-old Avias Mackenzie Neal was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound. The Greenville Police Department began receiving multiple 911 calls around 6:50 p.m. reporting the shooting. First responders arrived to find the young man gravely injured.
