In the quiet community of Gaston, South Carolina, a tragic event shattered the morning calm on November 15, 2021. Twenty-year-old Jaimey McKenzie Green, a female resident of Gaston, was found dead alongside 25-year-old Jazzmyne Ajytia Onisha Green. The two women were discovered outside a home on Woodcote Drive in the Heather Hill subdivision after a neighbor reported hearing gunfire around 9:15 a.m. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department immediately launched an investigation into the double homicide. As detectives canvassed the neighborhood, speaking with residents and gathering evidence, the search for a suspect began. The investigation soon pointed to a single gunman believed to be responsible for the deaths of both women.

Later that same day, the pursuit of the suspect came to a somber conclusion. The man authorities believed to be the gunman was found deceased in his car in neighboring Richland County. His death was the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. With the death of the sole suspect, the immediate threat to the community was neutralized.

Following the discovery of the deceased suspect, the Lexington County Sheriff's Department announced that they were not seeking any other persons of interest in the case. They characterized the shooting as an isolated incident and assured the public that there was no ongoing danger. While the investigation continued to piece together the motive and the precise events leading to the tragic deaths of Jaimey and Jazzmyne Green, the case was effectively closed with the death of the man believed to be responsible.
