On a spring afternoon in Gaston, South Carolina, the joyful sounds of a child's birthday party were shattered by a single, tragic gunshot. Seven-year-old Juliet Lynch was attending the celebration on April 12, 2014, when the unthinkable happened. A five-year-old boy, in search of a toy gun, came across a loaded assault rifle in the trunk of a car and accidentally fired the weapon. The bullet fatally struck Juliet, and another five-year-old boy was also injured by the shrapnel.
