On a tragic spring day in Columbia, South Carolina, the life of 42-year-old Lance Scott was violently cut short. On the morning of April 12, 2022, deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department responded to reports of a shooting at the Creekside at Huntington Apartments on Hunt Club Road. There, they discovered a grim scene: two men, Lance M. Scott and 50-year-old Richard M. Boineau, were found deceased from gunshot wounds.
A third individual was also shot and sustained injuries.
In the days that followed, the investigation swiftly moved forward as authorities worked to identify those responsible for the double homicide. The Richland County Sheriff's Department identified a suspect, Trev'von Pinckney, and a search for the teenager began. He was described by law enforcement as 'armed and extremely dangerous,' and they believed he was receiving assistance from friends and family to evade capture.
The manhunt for Pinckney extended beyond the borders of South Carolina. After months of searching, authorities located the fugitive murder suspect in Valdosta, Georgia. In September 2022, Pinckney was taken into custody, bringing a significant development to the investigation into the deaths of Lance Scott and Richard Boineau.
