In the summer of 2025, the life of 19-year-old JoKayne Carter was tragically cut short in Columbia, South Carolina. On the afternoon of Friday, August 22nd, deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a shooting at The Roost apartment complex on Southern Drive. Upon their arrival, they discovered Carter in the road with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
