In the summer of 2022, the life of 39-year-old Barry Redding, a Black man from Aiken, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. On the night of July 2nd, Aiken County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of shots fired at the Days Inn on Columbia Highway North. Upon arrival, they discovered a grim scene in room 229. Redding and another man, 40-year-old Stephan A. Poole, were found with apparent gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response from Aiken County EMS, both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation into the double homicide pointed towards a robbery as a possible motive. As law enforcement delved into the case, a suspect emerged. Hasheem Keywaun Rond Glover, a 20-year-old from Salley, South Carolina, was identified as the individual wanted in connection with the murders. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office issued a warning that Glover should be considered armed and dangerous, sparking a manhunt for the young man with a tattoo of the word 'Ghost' on his neck.
After a search that lasted for weeks, Hasheem Glover was apprehended on the morning of July 21, 2022. He was taken into custody without incident at a location in Crosland Park, just a few miles from the scene of the crime. Glover was subsequently charged with two counts of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Reports from the time of his arrest indicated that the investigation was still ongoing.
