Juvenile Officer Charles F. West, who served with the Jackson County Family Court in Missouri, tragically lost his life on January 10, 1989. Officer West was supervising a juvenile inmate who had been arrested for multiple serious offenses, including shooting four other juveniles, auto theft, and possession of stolen property. During the initial incident, the juvenile offender was attacked by a crowd and sustained a jaw injury that required medical attention.
