On January 14, 2014, the body of Jerrel Johnson, a 16-year-old Black male, was discovered in the 4500 block of Davison Avenue in Saint Louis, Missouri. Authorities were called to the scene where they found the teenager lying unconscious in the middle of the street. Upon examination, it was determined that he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head, torso, buttocks, and extremities.
Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, marking a violent end to the young man's life in the Walnut Park East neighborhood.
Investigators working the case learned from witnesses that a silver vehicle was seen fleeing the area shortly after the shooting occurred. This car became a primary point of interest in the initial search for those responsible. Despite the collection of evidence at the scene and the witness descriptions of the fleeing vehicle, the investigation struggled to produce immediate leads that would identify a specific shooter.
In the years following the homicide, the case has remained unsolved. Law enforcement officials have not reported any arrests or filed charges against any suspects in connection with Johnson's death.
