In the early morning hours of July 20, 2014, the life of 25-year-old Jolice Trice was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire in St. Louis, Missouri. The incident unfolded around 5 a.m. in the 4200 block of San Francisco Avenue, where Trice was shot in the head and died at the scene. Two men, aged 21 and 24, were also wounded in the shooting, one sustaining a hand injury and the other an ankle injury.
The investigation into the triple shooting led authorities to two suspects: Dinero
Thomas, 21, and Martinis Davis, 22. Both men were subsequently charged with first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and three counts of armed criminal action. They were initially held on a $1 million cash-only bail. While a motive for the shooting was not publicly disclosed by the police, the charges reflected the severity of the violent act that claimed a young woman's life and injured two others.
In the years that followed, the legal process brought resolutions for the two men charged in connection with Trice's death. In February 2017, Martinis Davis pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and other charges, receiving a 20-year prison sentence. A few months later, in May 2017, a St. Louis jury found Dinero Thomas guilty of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and three counts of armed criminal action. The following month, Thomas was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in the fatal shooting. The sentences for his other convictions were to run concurrently.
