In October 2014, the quiet community of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, was disturbed by the discovery of a body on the southern banks of the Black River. A local fisherman happened upon the remains at the end of a boat ramp at the Dan River Access. The victim was identified as Salvador Ruiz Ramirez, a 48-year-old male resident of Poplar Bluff. An investigation revealed that he had been shot twice in the head.
