A White male named Sebastian Jagger Dosier, aged 19, became the victim of a fatal shooting in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on the afternoon of July 1, 2023. The incident began to unfold when the Poplar Bluff Police Department received a notification at approximately 12:50 p.m. regarding a private vehicle that was hurriedly transporting a gunshot victim to the hospital.
Officers intercepted the car near the intersection of Westwood and Kanell Boulevards, where they discovered Dosier inside suffering from a gunshot wound. Authorities immediately facilitated his transport to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, but despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The subsequent investigation led detectives to the 1000 block of Velma Street, which was identified as the location where the violence initially took place. Dosier, who was born in Rockford, Illinois, was known to his friends and family as an aspiring musician with a passion for rapping and songwriting. He left behind a wife and numerous family members who gathered for his memorial services later that month. The community was left shaken by the sudden loss of a young man who had his entire life ahead of him.
In the days following the shooting, progress was made in the case when two juvenile suspects emerged. On July 2, 2023, a 16-year-old and a 13-year-old were brought to the Poplar Bluff Police Department by their parents to surrender to authorities. Both teenagers were taken into custody in connection with the homicide. Due to their ages, their names were not released to the public, and they were held pending a review of the case by the Butler County Juvenile Office and the Butler County Prosecuting Attorney.
