On a Tuesday night in St. Louis, what began as an ordinary evening ended in tragedy for 18-year-old Damon Willey. On September 1, 2015, Willey was with two 17-year-old companions when two unidentified men approached them and opened fire. The sudden eruption of violence left all three teenagers with gunshot wounds.
Shot in the shoulder, Willey attempted to flee the scene, running for about a block before collapsing on the lawn of a home.
Emergency services responded to the scene, but his injuries proved to be fatal. The two other victims of the shooting were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One was in critical and unstable condition with wounds to his chest and elbow, while the other was in stable condition after being shot in the hip.
