On a November evening in 2017, a dispute in north St. Louis escalated into a fatal shooting, claiming the life of 34-year-old Raymond Neal. The incident, which unfolded on November 25th, began with a physical altercation between Neal and another individual. In the moments that followed the fight, gunshots rang out, and Neal was found lying on a sidewalk in the 8200 block of Pelham Avenue.
He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The subsequent investigation by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department led to the identification of suspects and persons of interest. In the days following the shooting, authorities released images of three men and one woman they believed were connected to the case, seeking the public's help in identifying them. The investigation progressed, and eventually, two men were taken into custody and charged in connection with Neal's murder.
Terence Robinson, 26 years old at the time, was the first suspect to be charged in the case. Shortly after, a second suspect, 27-year-old Naesean Thompson, was also apprehended and charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action for his role in the death of Raymond Neal. The charges brought a measure of progress in a case that began with a physical confrontation and ended in a man losing his life on a city sidewalk.
