On February 9, 2023, at approximately 12:09 AM, 20-year-old Ian Hayes was found fatally shot inside a vehicle near Ashbrook and Golden Drives in Bellefontaine Neighbors, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. Responding to reports of shots fired, officers from the Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department discovered Hayes with apparent gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
