On the night of February 9, 2023, the quiet streets of Bellefontaine Neighbors in St. Louis County, Missouri, were disrupted by the sound of gunfire. Just minutes past midnight, at approximately 12:09 a.m., local law enforcement received distress calls reporting shots fired near the intersection of Ashbrook Drive and Golden Drive. Officers rushing to the scene discovered a vehicle parked in the residential area.
Inside the car, they found 20-year-old Ian Hayes, a male resident of Florissant, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the immediate response of emergency services, he had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
