A quiet evening in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri, turned tragic on October 25, 2016, ending in the death of 64-year-old Nicki Alexopoulos. A retired and much-loved teacher, she was fatally shot by her 38-year-old son, Patrick Alexopoulos, in a shocking murder-suicide that stemmed from a history of domestic turmoil and financial desperation.
