Miranda Andrea Carr, a 21-year-old Black female, was a vibrant and ambitious young woman whose life was tragically cut short on October 23, 2018, in Kansas City, Missouri. A graduate of Grandview Senior High School in 2015, she was pursuing a career in physical therapy at Longview Community College. Known for her academic and athletic talents, she was a member of the Honor Roll, the A+ Program, and various sports teams, including varsity basketball, volleyball, and track and field.

that fateful Tuesday afternoon, Miranda was caught in a violent shootout between two vehicles near East 44th Terrace and Lawn Avenue. The car she was in, a black vehicle, was involved in an exchange of gunfire with a silver car reportedly occupied by four males. The driver of the black car was struck, causing the vehicle to crash into two parked cars. The brazen daylight shooting resulted in two fatalities and one injury.
Miranda succumbed to her injuries later that evening. Another victim of the shooting, James Speers, passed away from his injuries on November 8, 2018. A third woman in the car with Miranda was also wounded in the attack. The Kansas City Police Department launched an investigation into the triple shooting, seeking a silver Dodge Charger with tinted windows and its four male occupants. Despite their efforts, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the case, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to seek information from the public.
