A late-night shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, claimed the life of 18-year-old Noella Bartley, a female, on Monday, March 4, 2019. The incident, which also left two other individuals with serious injuries, unfolded around 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of 51st Street and Prospect Avenue.
Responding to reports of gunfire, police discovered Bartley and the two other victims inside a vehicle. Emergency services pronounced Bartley dead at the scene.
The two other victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. Initial police investigations also focused on the area of 51st and Wabash Avenue, a block away from where the victims were found.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement officials did not release any information regarding potential suspects or a motive for the attack. As of October 2020, reports indicated that no arrests had been made in connection with the homicide. The death of Noella Bartley was recorded as the 22nd homicide in Kansas City in 2019. Authorities have encouraged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
