In a tragic turn of events on a December evening, a planned meeting over a marijuana deal ended in bloodshed, claiming the life of 20-year-old Warren Edward Banks II in Kansas City, Missouri. On December 16, 2016, Banks, a Black male, was shot and killed inside a vehicle in the 7700 block of East 52nd Street. Another man in the vehicle with Banks was also shot and sustained serious injuries but ultimately survived the violent encounter.
The incident unfolded after Banks and the other
victim had arranged to sell marijuana to an individual. When the prospective buyer, identified as 17-year-old Jewell A. Jones Jr., entered their vehicle, the situation quickly escalated. Jones allegedly announced a robbery and then opened fire, fatally wounding Banks and injuring the other occupant before fleeing the scene.
