In the winter of 2017, a beloved 28-year-old female teacher, Victoria Cheri Brown, was tragically killed in a violent incident in Kansas City, Missouri. On the evening of January 12th, police were called to an apartment complex near 62nd and Booth following reports of gunfire. Inside one of the apartments, they discovered a grim scene. Victoria C. Brown and a man named Darrell E. Thomas, 29, were found deceased.
Two other individuals had also been shot.
Ali Renee Brown, a 20-year-old woman, was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries. A toddler and another adult female were also wounded in the attack but survived. Investigators determined it was a triple homicide.
Victoria, a Blue Springs High School mathematics teacher with a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Missouri, was remembered as a selfless and loving person. She was actively involved with the school's marching band and was a member of the First Bible Baptist Church.
The case remains unsolved, and authorities have sought the public's help in identifying those responsible for the deaths of Victoria, Ali, and Darrell. Investigators released descriptions of three suspects. One is described as a light-skinned Black man with shoulder-length dreadlocks. The second is a Black male who was wearing a light gray hoodie, and the third is also described as a Black male. They are believed to have fled the scene in a black or blue four-door vehicle. Family members have speculated that the intended target of the attack may have been Darrell Thomas, who had a criminal history.
