In the early morning hours of January 28, 2017, 23-year-old Black male Dominique D. Byers was enjoying a night out in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The evening took a tragic turn when he visited the Dirty Bird Bar & Grill, an establishment located on Blue Ridge Boulevard in Raytown, Missouri. While in the parking lot of the venue, unknown assailants opened fire, striking Byers.
