On May 11, 2017, the life of Demetric LaShaun Atchison, a 41-year-old Black/African American male from Charleston, Missouri, was tragically cut short in Cape Girardeau. Atchison, a graduate of Charleston High School, was the victim of a fatal shooting. Born on November 26, 1975, he was a father to four sons and two daughters.
The seriousness of the crime prompted the formation of a Major Case Squad to spearhead the investigation into his death.
However, this specialized team was disbanded just a few days later, on May 15, 2017. This development suggested that the investigation had quickly encountered significant obstacles, possibly due to a lack of leads or available evidence.
To date, there have been no arrests made in connection with the homicide of Demetric Atchison, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
